Army, Assam Rifles conduct joint ops in Manipur, recover 26 weapons

In a series of joint operations, the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, Manipur Police, and other security forces have recovered 26 weapons, ammunition, and warlike stores over the past week.
On October 7, in Bishnupur district, the Indian Army and Manipur Police conducted a joint operation in the Gelbung area. The forces recovered a 9mm carbine machine gun, an AK-47 rifle, a 12-bore single-barrel rifle, a 12-bore pistol, 2.5 kilograms of improvised explosive device (IED), ammunition, grenades, and other warlike stores. Another operation on the same day in Kangvai, Churachandpur district, led to the recovery of two country-made mortars, two pistols, grenades, and additional stores.

The next day, on October 8, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police launched an operation in the Khelakhong area of Imphal West. The forces recovered a 7.62 mm self-loading rifle (SLR), a .303 rifle, a 9mm pistol, grenades, and other materials following extensive searches in the area.
On October 9, a joint operation by Assam Rifles and Manipur Police in the Champai area of Sagolmang, Imphal East, resulted in the recovery of an M16 rifle, two SLRs, a .22 rifle, a country-made Sten gun, two carbines, eight 9mm country-made pistols, ammunition, and grenades.
The Indian Army highlighted the importance of collaboration in these operations, with a spokesperson noting that the “seamless cooperation between the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, and local law enforcement agencies has been key in ensuring the security of the region.” The spokesperson added that the army remains committed to maintaining peace and stability in Manipur through continued joint efforts with local forces.
